My sister wrote a poem for me today and I thought it was so lovely (and true!)
that I would share it with you. Laura
{ Baby sis }
I was 18 when my sister arrived,
and at our mothers age I was horrified.
I pictured a house full of nappies and screams,
not the most beautiful baby I’d ever seen.
From then on I’d steal you at every chance,
those big brown eyes worked their hypnotic trance.
with cute ‘temple’ curls, I could not resist,
back then was ok, seen as mother not sis.
A smart little cookie, industrious too,
University graduate, from our genes, who knew.
not always miss perfect, you could make me mad,
well you had to inherit some from your dad.
Always frugal with pennies,(from your dad not our mum)
you could even say the proverbial ‘ducks bum’.
But never work shy, you’ve always had jobs,
though some of your boyfriends were complete knobs.
As a stand in parent, i’ve encouraged and moaned,
but achievements you’ve made have all been your own.
A professional photographer is what you’ve become,
I must be the proudest, sister - stroke - mum.
So my baby sis, you’ve turned out alright,
except looks, age and talent, we’re very alike.
My sister, my friend, its more than just blood,
so this is for you, ‘To Lollypop with love’.
